Amor fati is Latin for “love of fate”, and the phrase in its modern form belongs to Friedrich Nietzsche, who used it across The Gay Science, Ecce Homo and his notebooks. His formulation is deliberately extreme: not to endure what happens, not to accept it, but to want it — including the parts you would never have chosen.

The idea has older roots in Stoicism. Epictetus and Marcus Aurelius both argue that the only thing entirely in your control is your response, so resenting what is already fixed is wasted effort. The Stoic version is calmer than Nietzsche's; his adds the demand that you affirm your life so completely you would take it back unchanged. Worth knowing which of the two you actually mean before it is permanent.

Script, size and where it sits

Two words in Latin means the whole tattoo is typography, so the lettering is the design decision. Serif and roman capitals lean into the classical source and stay readable small.
